This dramatic wall sculpture is attributed to the proud roots of Mexican history, specifically the civil war and the heroes who committed fully, sacrificing their lives while establishing a new order, reaching toward freedom for the people. They are greatly remembered for their part in the evolving soul and current constitution of the country.

Sklarsky delivers his inspiration in two primary elements:

Firstly, a two story high, brushed aluminum backdrop representing the roots of the ubiquitous, indiginous ficus tree, which sustains itself with entwined, grand, strong systems.  Like this country’s people, it demonstrates resilience and persistence and adaption to circumstance, standing firm despite change to its environment.

Secondly, six bold, green acrylic “one line blind contour” portraits that this artist is renowned for take their place on the foreground of the work. Like the actual lives of these important Mexican influencers, they are entwined in the roots of culture with a place of significance. Each face invites the viewer to learn more; to enrich and refresh perspective on the enormous importance of history and the sacrifices made during the Mexican Revolution, which still resonate economically and in culture today. Their gazes look out, as if to tell us of contribution and their ultimate sacrifice, but also to remind us of their value which remains in everyday modern life.
